Employment plays an important role in recovery. Clubhouse offers employment opportunities to its members. Our members who are employed have a renewed sense of identity, self-worth, and self-esteem. Employment enables our members to feel like contributing and productive members in a competitive society.

There are three Clubhouse Employment Tiers

Testimonial

"The best thing about working for Northern Lakes Community Mental Health allows me to make money and continue to being a contributing part of society. I enjoy greeting the staff and clients of Northern Lakes Community Mental Health when they come in and depart from their business. The staff and clients are super friendly and a joy to greet. "

~ Kathy

"My favorite thing about working as a greeter at Northern Lakes Community Mental health is learning how to be responsible and saying "hi" and "goodbye" to everyone who comes in." ~ Lynn

Transitional Employment

  •  TEs are the most supported form of employment opportunities that clubhouse provides.
  • Typically, members work 12-20/hours per week at the minimum wage rate for the duration of 6-9 months.
  • TEs are designed this way in order to boost a member's employment record especially if this is their first job or there has been a lapse of time between jobs.
  • TEs help build self-esteem and involve the clubhouse staff learning the job first, training the member who is placed in the job and offering absentee coverage at no cost to the employer.
  • TEs allow for building business partners in the community. Clubhouse maintains a strong relationship with the employer. This is a win-win situation. There is community awareness about clubhouse and annually one of the TE partners are selected for an award and recognized in Lansing for their exceptional support of clubhouse.

Supported Employment

  • Clubhouse supports members in obtaining and securing part-time or full time employment based on their individual needs.
  • Clubhouse maintains a level of support to both the member and the employer.

Independent Employment

  • Where the member has successfully obtained competitive employment with little or no support from clubhouse. This may be part time or full time employment.
